Microsoft Teams is introducing a new and improved experience for chats and channels, which will begin rolling out at the end of March. This update aims to streamline collaboration in the modern work environment with the help of AI technology.
Simplified Management of Chats and Channels
The new design consolidates chats, teams, and channels in one place, making it easier to navigate and prioritize important conversations. Users can choose to keep chats and channels separate or integrate them, and this can be adjusted both at the start and later without assistance from the IT department.
Efficient Message Management
To facilitate managing numerous conversations, new filters such as "Unread," "Chat," and "Channels" are being introduced. These help you quickly get an overview of important conversations. The @-mentions feature gathers all messages directed to you in an interactive list, making it easier to respond to important messages without searching.
Customize According to Needs
With the new experience, you can customize your work environment based on your preferences. The Favorites section gathers all your prioritized conversations, and with custom sections, you can organize conversations by project or topic. You can easily drag and drop to sort conversations, and new quick commands simplify navigation.
Availability and Future Updates
The new chat and channel experience will be available on all devices, including mobile, and will roll out to the public during March and April. Additionally, Microsoft plans to introduce threaded conversations in 2025 to further enhance the user experience.
