Microsoft has recently launched an exciting update for SharePoint users. You can now create dynamic pages using flexible sections, which means you are no longer limited by the traditional column format. This allows you to place web parts anywhere on a two-dimensional grid, resize, overlap, and group them. It offers a whole new level of flexibility and creativity when building your pages.
How to Add a Flexible Section
When adding a section to your page, you will now see a new option, "Flexible," in the toolbox. You can easily drag and drop web parts and media into this section from the toolbar. There are also alignment cues to help you place your web parts exactly where you want them.
Customize Size and Arrangement
Within flexible sections, you can resize web parts using handles at the edge of each part. Some web parts, like text and images, can be adjusted to most width options, while others have fixed size options. Additionally, you can overlap and group web parts, which is particularly useful for keeping related elements together.
Enhanced Mobile Adaptation
On mobile devices, flexible sections transform into a column, and you can choose how elements should be prioritized—from left to right or top to bottom. There is a preview button that allows you to see how your page will look on different devices.
This update is beginning to roll out to Targeted Release customers and will be available to all users by the end of April 2025.
We look forward to seeing how you can use these tools to create even more dynamic and attractive pages in your projects.
