Microsoft has recently introduced a new consumption-based pricing model for SharePoint agents, which may be of interest to many organizations using or planning to use SharePoint. This update provides businesses with the flexibility to pay only for the messages they actually use, instead of committing to a fixed monthly license per user.
Flexible Payment Model
The new pricing model, known as pay-as-you-go (PAYGO), charges customers $0.01 per message. Each interaction with a SharePoint agent is equivalent to thirty-two messages, resulting in a cost of $0.32 per interaction. Payment is processed through the customer's Azure subscription, which facilitates integration with existing billing processes. This model is available globally and can be particularly beneficial for companies with varying usage needs.
Same Functionality Regardless of License Model
It is important to note that there are no differences in functionality between using SharePoint agents under the PAYGO model and those included in the Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Users have access to the same features and benefits regardless of which payment model they choose.
Administrative Settings
To use the PAYGO model, administrators must activate it in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. An Azure subscription and a resource group are required to set up this payment model. Administrators also need to have owner or contributor rights to the Azure subscription to set up the billing.
Limited-Time Offer
Microsoft is currently offering a promotion for SharePoint agents that grants organizations with at least 50 Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses 10,000 interactions per month for non-licensed users. For those who wish to use more than 10,000 interactions, there is an option to purchase a Microsoft 365 Copilot license or activate the PAYGO model.
