In the coming months, Teams plans to roll out a range of new features to make the meeting experience more customizable and inclusive. Users will be able to tailor meeting settings to better suit their needs. For those who prefer to read the meeting content in real time, the subtitle is improved. In addition, Real-Time Text (RTT) will allow people who do not communicate verbally to actively participate in meetings.
For sign language users, features are enhanced to better perceive them as active speakers, creating a more inclusive environment. Teams is also becoming more visually responsive, helping users with low vision to zoom in and customize views as needed.
Accessibility settings and keyboard improvements
For those who prefer to navigate using a keyboard, the flow is improved and more keyboard shortcuts are added, making it easier to use Teams efficiently. All accessibility settings will be collected in one place in Teams settings, making them easier to find and use.
Existing features for increased inclusion
Teams already offers several features that support users with different types of disabilities. These include support for screen readers and high contrast mode. To help users follow conversations, Teams offers live subtitles and real-time transcriptions. There is also a sign language view and support for TTY devices for text-based communication.
